spent some time watching youtube yesterday and learned about a few games announced for this year/next year that i'm hype for

mina the hollower

this game looks like Link's Awakening, my all time favorite zelda game. it's by the people who made shovel knight, so it's probably going to hit big time

pikmin 4

i've never played a pikmin game ever, but people go nuts for these games and they look really unique and fun, so i think i'm finally going to give it a shot

earthblade

i know literally nothing about this game other than it's made from the people who made celeste and that game slaps, so i'm sure this one will too

peppergrinder

devolver digital made a few games that i've completed to finish, and that's pretty rare for me these days. this game has an interesting mechanic for progression and movement. i'll probably buy this - i trust this developer to make good stuff as well

So, I am still working on my backlog of games from 2005, where you find the time to try new games in 2023?

Most recently I've been playing Valheim on the Xbox. Started a new server with my wife.

AEW Fight Forever New wrestling game that is designed to play like the classic N64 wrestling games, which I love. Some of the original designers/devs are involved.

WWE 2K23 Another wrestling game that was just released. I've already been playing it.

Hades 2 Hades is one of the greatest video games of all time, in my opinion. Looking forward to the sequel.

Redfall Seems like it might be fun for co-op.

Disney Illusion Island Looks like a fun co-op platformer.

They are essentially a genre of fighting games. Like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Smash Brothers are all fighting games, but play very differently from each other. Then you've got titles like UFC, boxing games (like Fight Night) and wrestling games.

The gameplay is really fun. Back in the Nintendo 64 days, my friends and I would play for hours. I like doing long matches (royal rumbles) where you have to outlast dozens of opponents. This requires you to be careful with how you manage your character's energy, and pick your fights wisely.

There are some wrestling games that focus more on the simulation or show aspects of wrestling. You can create your own storylines, characters, entrances, belts, matches, and all sorts of stuff. Then you can simulate matches, kinda like how you can do in Madden or NBA games.

Probably will buy

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steal Time, sequel to Fantasy Girl on the 3DS which was a life sim, similar to like animal crossing but with rpg elements.

Life by You from paradox interactive, a game that's pretty much the sims, in fact directed by one of the art directors of Sims 2.

Mineko's Night Market, another game thats like animal crossing but more directly like it, has been in development for like 4 or 5 years and is finally coming out this year.

Pepper Grinder, game in the style of drill dozer

Rift of the Necrodancer, the third necrodancer game this time with rhythm heaven style battles and minigames.

Honestly nothing new, maybe Boltgun. I was thinking Atomic Heart but after watching some streams, unless it is super cheap I probably will not.

I did buy some older PC games on Steam last week C&C Remastered, Oblivion & Titanfall 2, all super cheap during sales.

i bought the original titanfall during a flash sale, and was so disappointed that the game had been almost completely abandoned, which was a shame because the multiplayer was really fun.
