Anybody watching the TV series? I like it but having played the game (1st one) I just can't get past that the TV show is seeming a bit "gamey" at times. All that sneaky and shooty action is strange on TV but not sure how else they could have translated those parts.

Still, it has kept all the emotional stuff from the game which is cool.

I don't play games in general, and haven't played tlou, but those scenes were kind of cool, they seemed like a throw back to the people that have played the game.

That said, I did watch the Uncharted adaptation last week and they also did that "scene that looks like the game" bit, which was awful.

In the context of the series however it does work as people that haven't played the game don't know much about the universe, and it feels like we are discovering things through the lens of the characters.

One thing that isn't clear for me is why that big bulky monster that appeared in the last EP was so bent on fucking people up, seems kinda out of place as the fungus in general benefits from having people alive, but infected (instead of straight up dead with their heads torn off).

Oh man ep 6 just showed how much of an asshole Joel can be, forcing his soon to be father brother to risk his life for a kid he barely knew? I'm surprised Maria was ok with that shit

Overall great show, I'm enjoying it, but I have never played the games. I see others complain that it's not identical to the games or something else is not correct, but as a standalone series seems entertaining so far. I just hope it doesn't become another Walking Dead and they tell the story and end it at some point.

It's actually quite close to the game even as far as the script goes but does have some tweaks obviously, like that episode 3 character study wasn't part of the game. The spat Joel has with his bro and then Ellie is in the game though.

I'm impressed how much they kept in the show to be honest. However for that reason I have to question exactly how much input Craig Mazin had.

yeah I agree that was a bit dumb. That bloater shouldn't have been in the show. Seems like it's gamey fan service to have a miniboss suddenly jump out on TV haha

i finally finished the game last week after watching the show.

i might be biased but i think the show is the preferred way to enjoy the story. i like the little changes they made like making Sam deaf and creating more a backstory around Bill. i thought Bill was a little cold in the game and his character didn't really develop enough.
