dark mode when??

there's a current bug with authorization where if you come back to the site 24 hours after closing it, your auth cookie will never be cleared and the site will continue to try to make requests with the old token, resulting in 401 errors.

what this looks like on the screen is some stuff just missing or a full-page error.

currently looking into just clearing the cookie when 401 errors come down and refreshing the page, so the requests are re-made with no auth token.

I can't get the syntax for posting images to work in preview, and I can't tell if I'm completely misunderstanding how I'm supposed to do it or if this is an actual bug Instructions say you type ![] and then the image link right after but it's not working for me, the picture never shows up in the preview

you actually need to add your image link in parentheses

don't know if this is a bug or a consequence of some mechanism but i made a post which was just an image embed in the meme thread and it /immediately/ said "edited at 15:27" (or whatever timestamp i forgot).

hey me again i'm editing this post now. it happened here as well it said edited immediately. i DID edit a post but it was another one than these two. maybe it's some cache or something on my side? i'll try reloading

btw, when creating a new thread i had to pick an icon and i was so clever in choosing the hand mixer for the horror movies thread but then it's never displayed 😢

yep. when a post is created both posted_at and updated_at timestamps are set. the issue is that if the updated_at doesn't match the posted_at, it will read as "edited," but they're not using the same time as the source of truth.

i'll try to get a fix for this pushed and deployed this weekend. it won't fix existing posts, but will fix future posts.

and yeah there were plans to display thread icons on the forum landing page, but i need to rethink the design of the page and find some space where i'd like them

i edited your post - looks like it was due to there not being a line break between the quote end and the beginning on your new message, but i'll get this fixed up today

e: this one is now fixed. feel free to quote and then immediately start typing without a line break! i also found it annoying that you had to click into the field to start drafting your post, so i also added an auto-focus field that will put your cursor into the body when you get to a post creation page for posts, threads, and private messages

great point! i'll scrub the email from the response because i think the required auth was more of a typo in the documentation. looks like there's a few endpoints that say they require auth when they actually don't

I guess it was repeating the same message for each not-allowed character, didn't really check. By the way, the text below the field should specify which special characters are allowed.
