i've been a fan of fnaf since day one, so i absolutely had to go see the movie (in cosplay of course).

it's only been out for like a couple of days so i won't spoil anything just in case, but it's definitely a movie made for the fans. there were a lot of little references to things like fan theories and popular rumors from the time of the game's initial release. it is a shame that markiplier couldn't be in the movie, so i'm hoping that if/when there is a second one the stars will align and we can get him in there even for a little bit!! (for people who are unaware, he was filming iron lung at the same time as the fnaf movie was filming so unfortunately they couldn't get their schedules to work out.)

the animatronics looked fucking awesome by the way. the jim henson company did a phenomenal job - and the pizzeria looked awesome too! the fact that there wasn't any cg used for them adds so much flavor to it.

if any of you plan on seeing it, i wouldn't go with the intention of being scared or anything like that. i wouldn't say that it's necessarily a good place for a new fan to start out either. part of the thing with fnaf was the journey of talking about the lore and theorizing what you thought was happening - actually getting to the end point of understanding the whole series of events is kind of secondary to the thrill of the hunt (never said the series was a well-written one lmfao). for an entry point, it definitely doesn't hit the same as "wow, this indie horror game has some really obscure lore but like it's there. we should talk about it and figure out what's going on". if you are a fan of fnaf though, and you've been debating whether or not you should see it - don't listen to the critics, they have no idea what the fuck they're talking about. the movie was shrimply not made for them.

overall, had a really fun time at the movie, solid 9/10 :]

quoting NobodyFix:

going to be so real, i haven't seen that movie lmao. but the fnaf movie has a better audience rating on rotten tomatoes than willy's, so i'm going to say that fnaf was better

saw it with some family members when it just came out in my theater. im no fnaf fan in the slightest but this movie was fun for what its worth. i wasnt expecting much for a movie to explain the whole lore that the series has been building up and skewing around for a decade now nor did i expect much from the animatronics although they looked cool when seeing them for the first time. the Jim Henson company did one hell of a job making the animatronics look like that. the move is really its own thing with fnaf fans as anybody outside of it would kinda just be confused by it or just say its ok.
