<quoting=starbreaker postID=2499 threadID=147> Spent Saturday night thinking about consciously choosing to believe, and how ridiculous it is that some people think that reading the Bible can lead somebody to faith when it led me away from it -- especially ...

what password manager do you use?

by the-syreth-clan in software on may 6, 2024

I use pen and paper. It has its unique cryptographic method of my terrible handwriting and is completely off the grid, so it's basically unbreakable.

quoting Eternity:

I've read KeePassXC also does this?

Yeah, you can ...

I have stopped caring about 'work' or 'jobs' or especially 'having a career' at this point. Tired of employers and their nonesense, because it's never enough for them.

What I’ve found over the years is that your bosses don’t want you to give your best ...

On the Sustainability of Small Forums

by the-syreth-clan in general on apr 16, 2024

quoting Nostalgic-Dragon:

I found this place trough a search site called marginalia, wich is good for finding such small little gems.

Marginalia's engine is great, I've found so many cool little blogs through that.

I wonder where he disappeared to. I also have this problem of splitting my website like that. Worse yet I have a bad urge of making them all a 'marketable'. This is not necessarily a bad thing, if the project is separate and big enough to warrant its own ...

what have you been listening to?

by the-syreth-clan in music on mar 12, 2024

BunFan released the new song for the 'Secret Weapon' and WOW is 'Cathy' unable to release something that doesn't blow the roof off the house.

This made me think... maybe being slashdotted (even though I'm hosting on Neocities) is part of the paranoia about why I mostly keep writing about personal experiences on my sites instead of personal opinions.

Oh well! I can always come back and update the last couple of sentences if the muse strikes.

quoting orchids:

It's a simple question: can you use your site without a mouse? If the answer is yes, bully for you, you're doing God's work.

Sites are pretty easy to navigate by keyboard once you know how. It's always ...

How clean is your home?

by the-syreth-clan in general on feb 25, 2024

I honestly came in here thinking this will be about our actual, physical homes. We just re-organized and cleaned out a bunch of things we no longer needed. Anyway, 42 for me: 32 folders, 10 files.

by the-syreth-clan in video games on feb 10, 2024

quoting stonehead:

If you're working on your own game though, what advice I would give is to make something polished instead of something big.

Yeah, scope creep is a scary thing so I am keeping mine in check. If there ...

RSS feeds

by the-syreth-clan in software on feb 7, 2024

So I've been looking into RSS feeds as a technology more throughoutly recently as I wish to remake my various project logs in a new format — one that can hopefully be a little more well-rounded. Among other things I discovered that feed readers have functions ...

by the-syreth-clan in video games on feb 5, 2024

quoting orchids:

I think difficulty selection screens took something away from games because it makes you wonder if you're really playing the game the way it was intended to be played.

If the developers added it, there ...
