It's not exactly a bug, but it's an issue nonetheless. On the "mastadon" link input box, the username appears on the profile when the link is in the https://example.com/@user format. The problem is that in specific software on fediverse, the user account is in the https://example.com/user format, specifically on Pleroma-based instances. That format doesn't work here, as the @ symbol is expected in order to display the username and the instance domain. Also, can that be renamed as "fediverse link" instead? Not everyone uses Mastodon.
