Considering with steams support Linux gaming has actually become a thing, save maybe or two games, what is stopping most of you coming over to Linux?

The time has come to prove you are the best. To crush your enemies, to win the Tournament.

I'm a creature of habit, and I don't wanna risk wanting to play one of those two things that dont work and having it all fall apart. I do want to, but it's just a difficult mindset to get into.

Based on my experience running exclusively Linux on desktop, laptop and server for the last three years probably the fact that Linux is a platform made of rough edges that requires a far higher level of tweaking and fucking about with to get a satisfactory, sane and stable experience than Windows does, far, far higher than most of its evangelists will admit to.
There are things that are straight up better on Linux than they are on Windows and I obviously prefer it, but I wouldn't expect a new user with needs more complex than using a web browser on an AC powered integrated graphics desktop computer to go more than a week without running into some kind of moderate annoyance, no more than a month before the first serious problem.
Windows still provides a more pleasant actual user space for the vast majority of users, it breaks less, you need less technical know how, it's harder to make critical mistakes, etc.
Linux is getting better in this regard but it's a long way from being at parity.

At least if you look at it this way with stuff like Libre office and such its on par with the more commercial stuff like Microsoft word it can at least compete in the office world. Actually its more efficient because it costs less and the long term support for the OS and software is free and you don't need a hundreds of license for it. But I understand you like the old and familiar. But then again there are a lot of linux copy cat OSes too. Unless you want to get to nitty gritty stuff its similar to windows these days.
I personally use Cinnamon desktop environment, and as you can see it looks rather similar to windows, compared to for example Gnome:

I think Linux is more fool proof, sure if you compile something gentoo know you will have problems but try something like Manjaro or Ubuntu and you are Golden I think. Take for example old gimmick delete system 32 and see what happens XXDDD, sure they rectified it but you can still do it, in Linux its much harder to break the core system especially if you are user account instead of Root or admin. Which trust me is nifty in some industries like retail where people get fidgety with the software out of boredom.
Nvidia I guess? Sure they dominate the market so most people will have problems. I accept the fact you had similar problems. Iam running AMD GC and honest never once had a problem with it.

I do generally just use open source stuff if i can. The only closed source programs i use regularly are Clip Studio Paint and Sony Vegas, I guess. I just don't wanna take the risk on the entire OS. There's lots of things that can go wrong, I think.
