I feel like the past couple years, I've been finding way too many new services gaining popularity because people are getting tired of mainstream social media. So much in fact, that it's almost getting overwhelming and hard to keep track.

So this thread is about tracking all the new services that come out. The ones I know off the top of my head are:

https://bearblog.dev - a barebones blogging service, free of JavaScript and focused solely on text https://omg.lol - a whole ass platform offering email, personal web pages, statuslogs, fediverse, etc etc etc https://nekoweb.org/ - free static hosting, competing with neocities https://neocities.org - free static hosting with a social media aspect that allows people to share pages they created https://pika.page - small blogging service, similar to bearblog https://scribbles.page/ - small blogging service, similar to bearblog

i honestly love checking these platforms out so please give me more

Oh boy do I have a few I can contribute as well.

  • https://yay.boo/ - Simple web hosting solution by the same guys behind Pika Post

  • http://web1.0hosting.net/ - Another bare-bones web hosting site. They also have a search engine.

  • https://teacake.org/ - And another one, credit to Kalechips for their blog post mentioning it.

  • https://ichi.city/ - Web-hosting again, this one seems to be rather unmaintained though according to the experiences of a friend of mine.

  • https://waifu.ist/ - Web-hosting but for your beloved waifu or husbando only, many unmaintained pages sadly.

  • https://farside.link/ - A collection of privacy-friendly redirects for mainstream websites, many have other services too so give them a look.

  • https://hookipa.net/en/ - XMPP and other services with various subdomains available, it's where I have my XMPP account.

  • https://search.marginalia.nu/ - Search provided by Marginalia, it's pretty good for finding obscure things and also shows how many times an entered phrase comes up in a document.

  • https://www.gigablast.com/ - Old-school independent search engine Rest in Piece, you were the real OG.

  • http://frogfind.com/ - Search engine designed for old computers (actually just DuckDuckGo though).

  • https://curlie.org/ - A public directory curated by humans, I feel like it's a good idea in an age where search engines are going down the gutter.

this one is really cool. i guess it depends on how long these services will let other front-ends hit their APIs. Hopefully Reddit didn't start a trend

Unfortunately it did. With Reddit, Twitter and espcecially YouTube, it's kind of an arms race now.
