Hello Basement Community! I'm getimiskon (you can call me "gettie" if my username is a bit difficult for you to type), and I'm interested in computers, music and small web communities. I found this forum from @Eternity, who told me about this place on IRC. Thanks man! :)
Personally I run a website and a few services for me and friends at https://getimiskon.xyz. I'm glad I found a comfy place like this. It seems those places are becoming fewer and fewer on the corporate wasteland we call the modern web.

between this post and this YouTube rabbit hole I went down the other week where I watched this video about why you should use Vim, I feel like it might be a sign that I should learn some terminal text editor. I still use nano
because I have baby brain:

Hey orchids! Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed reading my posts. I'll be honest, I don't consider myself good at writing. Sometimes I usually just document some of the things that I'm experimenting with.
By the way, falling in Linux-related rabbit holes (and technology-related ones as well) is fun. Personally I use both Emacs and Vim, depending on my text editing needs. In the past I used Nano for some time as well, but it felt better using the other two. Sure, they have a steep learning curve (especially Emacs), but as you work on them, tweak them and understand them, you might get things done much better than what you were used to. You don't have to be worried about what you're currently using, as long as you can get things done.
Also being able to work on a terminal is very useful when you work on development, and especially web development, where you have to use a remote server.
