This might be a little late, but it's still January so shhh I can still ask this: Anybody got any new year's resolutions? Have you started making progress on them? (no sweat if not!)

Mine is to eat more fruit, especially ones I've never had before (like plums and cantaloupe) + read more comics. I've already started eating more bananas since I've been incorporating them into my protein shakes.

Did You Get My Message?

quoting Calypso:

I don't think I do really, or at least I wouldn't qualify them as New Year Resolutions.

Anyways, I'm just dropping in to include two concepts:

This popular CGPGrey video: Your Theme

It's funny I used to like him more, and he hasn't really changed, but now I find him a little obnoxious, lol. I don't dislike 'em dough.

And this concept that I came across subscribing to an 'I'll Read It' requester: Year of Living Without

Shame, I think they stopped posting recently... Hope all is well.

My resolution was to move out and participate in social circles more — both on- and offline —, which is why I made my account on January 1st to enter the birthday raffle. Last year I got pretty self-conscious about what I post in public, trying to emphasise long-form content over just dumping things into chat or onto social media, but that left me pretty isolated, sadly.

That's real! I've also tried to keep my online accounts pretty organized; some are just for low-effort shitposting and/or chatting with friends while others like this one are meant to engage more consciously without a lot of pressure to 'keep up'.

If you're looking for offline social circles, I've had a lot of luck with going to concerts and just interacting with random people there. Sometimes you make a friend!

i usually don't do resolutions other than maintain what i'm doing, which are keep progressing in the gym and keep doing my daily(ish) walks, something i stated doing in the middle of last year.

other than that, i just started leaning spanish via audiobooks that i've been listening to on my walks so i'd like to be better at listening and speaking by the end of this year. Which will definitely come in handy now that i live in southern california

quoting mezlocillin:

I took a class on writing short fiction last year, and I fell in love with it a little. My goal is to write a few short stories, and to work on a bigger project.

Writing is amazing! It's the one thing of mine that doesn't feel like a chore to work with, unlike drawing. Editing and proof-reading used to be a whole other business, but I'm getting better at that now too, although I am still reading too fast most of the time to spot major mistakes.

hmm i think one of the things i'd like to do is learn more about guitar - like more lead guitar stuff and understanding the theory behind it and how to do solos an whatnot. i can do chords n things, but i've definitely plateaued in what i can teach myself.

Hey this video is really interesting! Never thought about New Year's Resolutions that way, but I guess im now dubbing this year the year of health since I'm also trying to exercise more.

Maybe that person who's living a year without just decided to go the rest of the year without posting, hope they are alright though but people online are usually okay when they disappear anyway.
