Finished a reference sheet for this nameless space cadet mouse character. There is a bit of a funny story behind her, actually. I was doing a deep dive into pixel art, 'pixelshit' and indie games in general when I found a tutorial video for 16x16 characters with terrible, soulless, beady-eyed humans as examples with a link to an online pixel art course that was — stripped from it's FOMO coupon code — 90USD. This infuriated me so much I made a 16x16 pixel art character myself and I liked the end result so much I decided to keep her.

AUGH that seems like such a cool concept, i want to know more about your characters !!! what would cause them to use the hats! what is crystal programming!

The characters in my project are superheroes who live together in an apartment. They wear the hats to not only signal their status as superheroes, but also use them to fight crime and help locals. The most notable characters include a crossing gaurd, a botany-wielding bandit, your typical fighting game protagonist, and a brain in a robot's body.

Crystal Programming is an art that involves adding, modifying, or removing aspects of a superpower the crystal provides. It runs through a code that is understood by the special kind of programmers, hackers and engineers. It is said to make humans capable of manipulating reality to their will. This is why many people constantly fight for the universe's balance from those who abuse it.

Thankfully, there is a limit included in each crystal that prevents humans and animals from gaining absolute power over their world and environment. No one knows who invented the "limit", but according to Greek legend, it has been used by gods to teach humans and animals their place in the universe.
