An acquaintance told me that a guy calling himself "macguyvermectin" (hilarious handle, BTW) had linked to one of my blog posts, so I thought I'd have a look around. I code for a living, I write bad sf on my lunch breaks, and I'm posting from a MEWNIX system; my sysadmin's a Maine Coon cat.
I didn't get my first computer until I was 18, and all it ran was PC-DOS (not even MS-DOS). That was back in the mid-1990s, and I started using Linux at home in 1998. So I tend to chuckle when I hear somebody going on about how systemd, Flatpak, and Wayland have "finally made the Linux Desktop happen".

Linux Desktop in 1998 was... fun...
I installed a Debian on a Pentium 166Mhz with 32MB RAM, a reasonable machine at the time but Windows 98 wasn't the kindest to it. But under Debian, you could boot to Desktop using only 4MB of RAM. A vision of a dream, it was a shame that there was no drivers for the moderm otherwise it would have become my daily driver then.
I have been daily driving Linux for about 15 years now, Triquel my distro of choice. One of the few 100% Free/Open Source available but it is definitely not for everyone. Hardware selection on it is very limited.

It'll be there when you're ready. Though I'm currently rearranging my website to get away from the blog paradigm, I've already set up 301 redirects so that if you don't get around to reading it before I launch the new version, your bookmark will still work.

I had had a look at your homepage, and found the edit button, but hadn't messed with it. It's one thing to post on somebody else's forum, but to "deface" another person's website doesn't quite sit right with me. Cool idea, though.

Also, your RSS link points to https://www.devastatia.com/rss but the feed actually lives at https://www.devastatia.com/personal_homepage/rss. Dunno if you want to fix your <head> link or set up a 301 redirect.

Here's how I solved this in my parser. I match all of the <code> tagsets, generate a hash key for each code block, stash the blocks in an array, and replace them with placeholders in the content. After I parse all of the other markup, I reinsert the <code> tagsets into the content and parse the content with GeSHi to syntax highlight the code. If that isn't clear, I'll e-mail you my PHP file to examine.

Sorry. I wasn't talking about the footer. If you hit "view source" in the SPA and look inside the <head> block, you might see the following:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" href="/rss" title="💕 Devastatia 💕">
I have a Firefox extension that sniffs <head> for feed links and displays an icon in the URL bar next to the reader mode icon if it finds one. That's what I was talking about.
