So it appears that GIFs will not play when linked on the forum. Is that something that is easily remedied, something you are staying away from, or am I posting GIFs incorrectly?

i think they work fine? looks like the one you posted in the other thread wasn't actually animated?

Weird, here are the links I am pulling from Imgur.

Link: https://i.imgur.com/t1p9YkRl.gif - This is the actual GIF link which oddly enough doesn't work when copied directly to the address bar (Wonder if the '1' at the end makes it only show 1 frame?)

Link: https://i.imgur.com/t1p9YkR.gif - Only difference between this one and the one above is the removal of the '1' before the .gif, and this works fine

So now that I have tested with Imgur's links I know at least which one will work for here.

ohhhhh that's interesting yeah I guess that 1 was causing some issues.

But yeah the more general answer to this issue is we're kinda at the mercy of the markdown converter I'm using and how they return the actual HTML is how it's being rendered on the page.

I think in the future, I'm going to need to escape out of the markdown converter for media because another issue is that .mp4 files aren't supported, which is a huge bummer. They just appear one frame on the screen.

I was kind of hoping at some point we might be able to embed youtube videos so we can play within the thread instead of jumping sites. Best I can seem to do is include the default image in the link.
