i know it's already july, but it's barely gotten hot out on the west coast, unlike the swampy-ass east coast, so it hasn't really felt like summer over here until very recently. But regardless, does anyone have any interesting things going on this summer?
me, I've got tickets to a bunch of different things including:
2 concert tickets (one for Pierce the Veil/the Used, and another for The Wonder Years) 1 women's MLS game (tickets are cheap, and it's a good time)
and then probably a bunch of beach trips scattered throughout the weekends, with a big trip to Hawaii in the fall.
i'm probably also going to do some more searching at some point to see if any other bands I like are coming to town. This is one of the annoying parts of not having social media - you don't get a live feed of stuff you're interested in, so I need to check manually.

I've been doing some hiking and kayaking. Going out on a local reservoir tomorrow. Last holiday weekend I went out in the mountains to a relative's condo and had the kayaks strapped to roof doing highway speeds for the first time. Not my first time hauling crap but still a bit nerve racking.
Picked up a vintage cruiser bike the other day for the spouse. Hunting for a cheapo secondhand bike before I try to get something new for myself. Just something to putz about town or mild dirt trails with. Listings go fast and the frames aren't usually the right size for me so we'll see.
Moved into a new place and I have a garden going, but half of the plants have been destroyed by various hail storms recently and clearing out the weeds has been annoying. Last person didn't maintain things and I've been plucking out random grass like crazy. Just growing cucumbers and stuff for fun but I might just plant a bunch of sunflowers and mulch everything over next season.
I have Taylor Swift tickets but I might hop on The Wonder Years show for the fall now that you've reminded me.

Not a whole lot going on this summer for me, it's hot, and I'm broke. Summer is my least favorite season TBH.

Well lets see, my summer list has so far consisted of:
Build a new wood stacking location before winter sets in and order wood (partially done)
Clean out shed and storage (partially done)
Setup ditch water pump for watering the yard (just completed!)
See my grandson with a half-way meet between Colorado and North Dakota (ended up in Spearfish, SD, lovely place)
Visit the in laws in Texas (scheduled for end of July)
Sell old van that was supposed to be a camping/glamping van but never came to be due to rising costs (finally just got this completed and sold)
Build portable cement based fire pit for the backyard (testing is complete, need to make the actual pit now)
Build 2 new night stands for the bedroom (just got a lot of free hardwood in excellent condition, need to break down and prep)
3D printing everything (making stuff for work and for home, much of it needed items, some of it for fun)
Dig up/level garden area and add in raised beds (this was partially done but we skipped on the raised beds this year (using 5gal buckets), next year maybe)
Make beef jerky for the first time in my smoker (looking into what meats/spices we want to try)
Camping (only been out once, got to stay in a nice Conestoga wagon so farm, but need to get out more)
Fix up my bicycle so I can start riding it to work again (and maybe get rid of the winter weight)
This should get me into August, we will see what happens then.

my Craiglist road bike is still going like 7 years strong. I think living in a dense city helps for finding sellers, but I don't know if I'd ever buy a new bike after seeing some quality ones second-hand.
I guess mountain biking might be a different vibe though and newer bikes might be more necessary.

My vacations are ending tomorrow :') but until now I travelled with my family to a tiny town from my state. It's winter in my hemisphere so it was really cold in the town lol, but it was a really cool trip. I took some photos, I might post somewhere.
Besides this my other plans were to visit more museums from the cities around here, until now I visited one :p
the other ones in my plans are:
Brazillian Objects Museum
Arts Museum
(not necessarily a museum) the State Archive

My rates are fairly OK, except when one of the executives at the electric company needs to make his yacht payment, then they add on a random $250 rider.

I had a hand me down road bike from a friend for awhile but it was a bit too small and my back would be killing me after awhile with the seat post jacked way up.
I did manage to snag for $50 what barely qualifies as a bike for mild trail use: Decathlon ST50
Seller had the opposite problem of it being too big so it was barely used. Feels just fine on the smooth gravel paths and streets around town though so I'll be riding this until it dies and see what I want from there.

It's been what most would consider hot here in Vegas for a while but we almost got through June without seeing triple-digit temperatures! At this point we're reaching 115 F on the daily and us silly motorcycle riders are still commuting in it. But this is why I have air conditioning and a swimming pool!
I wouldn't mind checking out some live music myself. COVID19 is no longer an excuse I can use, but as a homebody in my 30s who lives with a partner, the motivation really isn't there anymore. In my 20s I was bored, in a big city (Seattle) for the first time, and more wanting for human connection. I prefer to waste my money upgrading my house or buying dirtbike stuff. :D
There is a band called Modern Tiger, formerly known as Orchards, and they do a cover of Crazy Town's Butterfly which became "our song" in my relationship. I'd have to get out of the house for that one and help my extroverted girlfriend not go insane.
But what I know I have planned is going back to Seattle for a wedding, or rather, a couple hours south of there. That counts as a date, right?

Contrary to what the interests of capital would like you to believe, COVID is still out there and still a very real threat.
COVID is the #3 leading cause of death in the US after heart disease and cancer.
Luckily there is an excellent way to defend yourself, the N95 particulate mask. I recommend the 3M Aura, it's very comfortable individually wrapped, and has some nice foam for the nose.
3M's Vflex is another good option, it's cheaper, comes in a big box and lacks the nose foam, but otherwise is excellent.
The Aura has two different types of straps, a lot of people swear on the woven elastic, but I find it to be a little too tight on my big ass head.
Although I wouldn't recommend it for crowded places, Powecom (https://bonafidemasks.com/powecom-kn95/) Makes some decent earloop masks in a plethora of colors.
Stay safe out there, because no one else is
