basement.community originated in an alternate timeline where the .com TLD was never created. I've brought it here for a very good reason: it saves you three letters of typing per day over a typical human lifespan of 76.1 years, and assuming you start on your 0th birthday, visit once each day, and refuse βor simply do not know howβto create a bookmark, this saves you 83329.5 key presses over the course of your lifetime. The unfortunate reality is you still have to press half a key to finish typing the URL on the day of your death.

hahaha holy shit you actually bought the domain? that's amazing
i was thinking of making that the domain, but i feared that it might impact the actual reach of the site for normie people who aren't used to seeing different TLDs. it's probably just paranoid thinking though.
and theoretically, you could bookmark the the site, which would save you more than 3 keypresses per day π¬
maybe i'll buy it from you someday

For an introductory price of $6.66, I could not resist it. I think that's a valid concern with an especially non-mainstream TLD like .community. Dot com is less ambiguous when displayed in print. Though putting the protocol https:// disambiguates plenty in my opinion, especially on what I feel is a forum whose general audience is tech savvy.
I am fine handing it over at any point if you ever want. Renewals are $24 on Porkbun. Perhaps you can offer hosted forum service where everyone gets a subdomain: yoursite.basement.community. Or you can venture into creating a new social network.
