is Shepherd Book a border collie or Australian sheep dog or some kinda mix of one of those? he looks a lot like a dog i used to have as a kid, but we were never 100% on what she mixed with

We are not sure as we got him at around 6/7 months of age from a rescue and they found him wandering the streets. We think he might be a mix of both but until we decide to get the DNA kit we're not entirely sure. I know just from dealing with his fur I feel he might be more sheep dog than collie, its a damn mess with the mats and his shedding. He definitely has the personality of both though as he loves to shepherd my wife around the house and outside. He is very protective.
