It's nonetheless a rather weird claim. A few users mentioned that she might be Amish; does this hold some ground? (I'm just curious.)

Just in my experience with the Amish (Michigan/Illinois/Ohio), the most technology I saw them use was a gas generator for power tools when building. The use of electronics was not allowed within their communities. I know some groups have moved forward a bit but still they are not using PC's to my knowledge. It has also been about 20 years since I interacted regularly with any of the as well so....

If fundies are going to abuse the "freedom of religion" part of First Amendment to sneak in theocracy through the back door, then I see no reason why a Linux fan shouldn't likewise use it to insist on a computing environment that suits them at work if it's at all feasible for the employer to provide one.

Because the policy gives the room to a court case so no I agree with the HRs.

Turns out they do have PC's but with very strict limits. Video summarizes it well. I didn't know about this until a few months ago either. I knew some used mobile phones merely for calls with outside clients. They have a very pragmatic use of computer technology.
