video games I had to quit Rust

I started playing Rust about a month ago. Always solo, so naturally I would frequently get shat on by teams. Along the way I have had a few rage-quit moments: being killed by a bear while riding a horse and losing my loot; being doorcamped by a duo, who stole my starter base; and most recently losing my base after I forgot to close an inner door and a duo that I had pissed off managed to get in.

I both love and hate the game. The grind is crazy, especially for a solo, and more often than not you lose everything. There's a lot to love about it though: it's chaotic and challenging, and can be seriously funny. But I can see an addiction forming a mile away, and I don't want to sink 10k hours into a game that often makes me want to tear my hair out.

So I'm calling it quits.

Any other former Rust gamers out there?

I've been playing it for ages, it can be a hard game to get into but it's unlike anything else out there. It's becoming more and more complicated, they just added the industrial update this month which adds these pipes that can move stuff around, auto-craft & electric furnaces. Game can be played in a variety of ways, but the most enjoyable is with a good group and on a good server. Solo is brutal but rewarding in it's own way. Game can be a massive time kill, so not for everyone. There is a billion things you can do so, not to mention custom servers, I'm still enjoying it after thousands of hours, despite people complaining after every update the game is only growing.

Here is a couple of videos that myself and friends made.

They are planning to add player controlled turrets & drones soon.

Me drawing stuff during a competition (didn't win):

Here is a base I made last year that had a million lights:

I quit a few years ago. Played almost exclusively as a loan wulf, I eventually found that the paranoia and mistrust of other players was affecting me IRL, not to mention the absurd hours required.

It's an amazing game, similar to EVE in some respects (mostly the cutthroat nature of the community), but ultimately not sustainable unless you are willing to make it a primary life interest.
