I just discovered Simulacra by Cloud People thanks to a review on Angry Metal Guy. It's spaced out jazz/synthwave fusion, mostly instrumental with voice-over samples for flavor, and I'm really grooving to it.

Finished Half Life 2 Episode 2 the other day, and I've been listening to the ost on repeat. These two especially are BANGERS Last Legs, Vortal Combat.

I know this isn't going to make sense to most old gen aged people that probably would frequent a forum like this (including myself in this category), but I have been listening to Bladee and Drain Gang over just about everything else.
I didn't always listen to music like this obviously. I got kind of bored with all types of rock music at some point though. Around the late 2010s, like very close to 2020, I started transitioning into vaporwave.
Don't get me wrong. I still like every genre I listened to from the past. I just don't make room in my brain to bring it out and explore it anymore. It's all been relegated to nostalgia and, "Oh yeah I remember this!" There are times I do go back, but I mostly moved forward into this post-Internet landscape of avant garde music.
This lead me to cloud rap of the early 2010s, and this lead towards hyperpop... and yeah. That is the story of how I became a late 30s-aged drainer.

I'm still into rock music, particularly heavy metal, but I had also started digging into synthwave and jazz in my late 30s. Vaporwave doesn't really do it for me, though.

Understandable. If I had to pick a type of rock music I was most into, it would be like post-hardcore from the 90s. Orchid. Saetia. Anything on Level Plane records.
I also like indie rock and punk, although again, I don't make time for either much anymore.
If I had to pick a metal genre I liked the most it would probably be the kind of stuff Burzum makes, although I don't like that guy as a person at all.

I've recently felt overwhelmed by the Spotify catalogue, so I'm returning to listen to music like in the old days: listening to one full album directly on my CD player or on my computer. So, I've been listening to Pink Floyd's complete discography. This method has helped me a lot not to feel tempted to jump frenetically from one group to another one.
Also been listening to Aretha Franklin's hits.

I've been binging songs by MoxiFloxi a lot recently but I've decided to give the album 'Plug 'n Play' a listen and it's been an absolute box of chocolates. I actually like the calmer songs like Luvbot and Flower more than the ones that go hard (and/or horny).

I mostly stopped searching for new music like half a year now. Mostly listening to Godflesh and post-metal (Isis, Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Pelican). Today gave Sonancy and Heaven's End by Loop a new listen - still super enjoyable!

This is a song by a very obscure artist, toha. When I first found her she quickly became one of my favorite artist. Unfortunately, she deleted all her music a few months back for some reason. Part of why I'm sharing this is because I'm likely the only person who has it saved and I don't want it to be lost to time.
