Hey! A fellow PangYa player! How lovely that game was, not counting the tryhards with their overaccessorized characters and 'calculators'. A fun read, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for reading ^^
Pangya was such a ride! If I remember, my sister and I mostly played against each other on there. We'd just get schooled against random strangers lol. Still it was really fun, I haven't had as much fun in a golf game since!

Hello!
I learned about this event today from the blog post on bearblog. When I started thinking around the theme of "internet usage", so many experiences came to mind that I couldn't sleep before writing them down.
Here is the resulting blog post, reflecting mostly on my high school internet experience and my views on the internet today.
thanks for the submission!!
i felt the same way about Facebook, but that's mostly because I was already on Myspace. my siblings all had facebook accounts so I made one really quickly and remember they made fun of me because I spelled my name wrong, but i didn't even notice because i was still using myspace because it was just more fun. That was a really weird transition for me realizing this new social media was going to give you a lot less customization over your profile, but somehow people still preferred it because it was new.
Also waiting for the day when I stop "getting" new technology.

hiya, happy to be here.
Don't Let The Internet Use You
A bit of a rant, but still aligns with the overall theme here. I want to encourage others to think about what they use, and how they use it.

When I made Catscape Navigators as a project, surfing the web aimlessly and finding interesting stuff was a novelty for me. Fast forwards a few years later and while it's not what I do all the time (it's good to have a circle of sites to regularly attend to), it definetly feels a lot more normal now. I'm not going to ever go back to 'scrolling', though.
Great article, welcome to the forums.

I know I said when I joined here that I will submit something for this event, but life happened and I lost motivation to finish my page. I might finish it someday, but definitely not soon and in time for the deadline. Sorry, y'all.
Anyway, congratulations for everyone who has submitted! Your efforts are commendable.

thanks for the submission!! i totally feel this. There's a big part of me that wants to get a light phone, but until they figure out a way to produce a dumb-phone with Uber/Lyft, Spotify, and some other necessities, getting detached is really hard.
I finally deleted my LinkedIn, which was the last thing I found myself scrolling, but I feel like I still have urges to replace the scrolling with something

I'll most likely use a site like this to pick the winner and record it for everyone to see:

Someone wrote this for the Agora Road January Travelogue. It's not an official submission, but I thought it fit really well with this event's theme so:
Quite liked it too.

Being both interested in dreams and the Internet, this was a stellar read. Thanks for posting. I actually kind of tried assigning an 'Internet time' for myself before but had quite a lot of trouble holding onto it. When drawing I often found I need to look for a hand reference, or I had to look up spelling or punctuation when writing. Even if that doesn't count as it is not technically mindless, I've also caught myself developing F5-itis — aka checking the few websites I visit way too often for something new — although I'm fairly sure it's mainly to keep my attention away from a peculiar anime character who has been fogging my mind the last six days.
The image of surfing the World Wide Web discovering new, interesting and strange things is a charming idea, but even outside the realms of 'braindead scrolling on (big tech site name here)', you finding things that aren't useful or you just plain don't care about is a guarantee. It's a little like lucid dreaming, I guess: sometimes you fail at it, sometimes you succeed and discover something great, and sometimes... sometimes you wake up in cold sweat and tears with a 124BPM pulse in the middle of a depraved adrenaline rush.
